First, an exterior which is simple yet attractive, offering an interesting shelter at the main entrance, a well placed fireplace from where panoramic views can still be seen, an adequate fenestration and to finish, a screened veranda for pleasurable summers.
Inside, spaces are well laid out and adapted to the panorama. For example on the main level, the vast living room, like the kitchen and dining rooms, has an impregnable view of the rear which often is of a river or lake. On this same level, the master bedroom is not neglected with a view of the panorama provided by a strategically placed and angled window. Although we do no actual construction, the ballpark estimate to build this home in Quebec (Canada) with the standard basement foundation starts at around $260,000. (We unfortunately do not have pricing with an optional foundation so I am unable to give you the details for any other option).
This estimate is based on professional grade materials and includes ceramic in the foyer, the kitchen and the bathrooms with hardwood flooring throughout the common areas and carpet in the bedrooms. The kitchen cabinetry is wood grain melamine. This construction estimate to build in Quebec is for a turn key project.
The cost of the land and its excavation, taxes and hook-ups to municipal or other services is not included in the calculation and it is highly recommended to consult local contractors and materials suppliers to get a better idea of the actual cost to build in your area.
