BIOGRAPHY
From a young age, Melissa was already drawn to house design. More rational than artistic by nature—though ever curious and constantly on the lookout for new projects—she pursued a certificate in construction management. This gave her a strong understanding of construction from both conceptual and technical perspectives. She loves site management and already has over 15 years of experience in construction estimating. On a personal note, she completed a major renovation for her family, converting and expanding a traditional house into a multi-generational home.
She enjoys designing warm, welcoming homes, which is why she favors the farmhouse and classic styles known for their timeless and inviting feel. She also has a deep appreciation for European architectural history and is drawn to Scandinavian, mid-century, and Californian-inspired homes. It's no surprise that her favorite plans from the Drummond House Plans' collection are the Pinot, Maveryk, Maple Way 2, and Sunny Heaven models—four popular designs appreciated by clients looking for homes that are cozy and will age gracefully.
Her motto for interior layouts: efficiency! Whenever possible, she proposes airy kitchens with pantries, primary suites with walk-in closets and private bathrooms, and very few hallways, which she sees as wasted space. And let's not forget… she loves open floor plans where the warmth of the exterior style—be it farmhouse, Scandinavian, or classic—flows inside, creating perfect spaces for unforgettable evenings with family and friends.
A nature lover, Mélissa enjoys hunting, ATV riding, and outdoor backpacking trips. She prefers this type of adventure to all-inclusive resorts and seeks out off-the-beaten-path destinations like Morocco, Costa Rica, Curaçao, and Guadeloupe to satisfy her adventurous spirit. She even participated in the Rallye Aicha des Gazelles for the first time in 2009, and again in the spring of 2024. This annual rally brings together women from around the world in a unique off-road car race where navigation and orientation are key. The event celebrates values that are close to her heart, such as courage, perseverance, and teamwork.
Newly joined to the Drummond House Plans' family in 2024, Melissa promises to listen attentively to your needs and respond with her full skill set and knowledge. As she likes to say: “If you can dream it, you can do it!” She'll do everything in her power to bring your dream home to life.
