Azalea is a plan that is not only aesthetically appealing but also has the natural function of purifying the surrounding air. In this spirit of dual functions, we named our last model "Azalea", house plan # 3723, which besides being a superb contemporary house with touch of natural stones and wood, suggests a few ecological aspects like a small 3-season greenhouse and herb garden, as well as a grid space that can either serve as rain collector and why not raise a few urban chickens!
This new contemporary Drummond House Plans model #3723 has been designed to take advantage of a south-west orientation that maximizes solar energy. It is possible to reverse this plan or to adjust it according to the orientation of your lot. The stone of the hearth is well oriented to store passive heat from the sun. The large roof cornices help to reduce the heat of the sun that enters the summer, but allows the heat of the sun to penetrate in the house during the winter. The house has been designed with roof slopes of 6/12, an ideal inclination for the installation of solar panels. The roof area is large enough to allow enough solar panels to not only power the water heater, but also the heating system of the house. This new contemporary modern two-storey design # 3723 (Azalea) is intended for a floating slab foundation with radiant heating, however, it could also be heated with a central heating and air conditioning system, which could benefit from solar panels.
An intelligent thermostat system for heating and system management becomes an important contribution to this type of construction. There are solutions on the market that are affordable.
Inside the Healthy House you will also find a cathedral ceiling on the ground floor, in the lounge area, allows better circulation of area and heat in the house, and the kitchen, living room and dining areas benefit from great natural light.
Azalea (plan no. 3723) proposes a cloakroom closed at the entrance of walk-in type. The refined kitchen contains a pantry and a large kitchen island. The dining room benefits from lots of natural light mainly from the beautiful windows and garden-door leading directly to a very large covered terrace. This area is large enough to accommodate a BBQ area, a 4 to 8 seater table depending on the layout, in addition to a multifunction screened space as stated above. A versatile room, adjacent to a full bathroom, can be used as a home office, playroom or simply bedroom # 4 if you have a large or recomposed family. A direct and convenient access to the garage is located near the laundry room and mechanical room.
Upstairs, the master bedroom benefits from a large walk-in closet and private balcony, besides being adjacent to a large family bathroom with separate bath and shower, and double vanity. The secondary rooms are of good size and with wardrobe. A mezzanine overlooks the living room and keeps an eye on the activities on the ground floor.
Healthy home environment
As for the exterior, a grid space is provided in the back left corner. This location can be used to install a rainwater collector. The grating space also allows you to grow plants or have your own chicken coop if your municipality allows you!
The structure of the pergola can be used as a support to grow vines or flowers.
A small garden near the large terrace can also be arranged, allowing the cultivation of its own vegetables and herbs, all close to the kitchen!
The large covered terrace, fitted to incorporate a BBQ, provides better comfort on hot days or on rainy days during the summer season.
