Other useful information on this plan

Small Modern house plan with an indoor climbing wall

The design of the APPALACHIAN house plan (#90107) was based on a lot with a south-facing facade. This wonderful little house is suitable for a minimalist lifestyle for a small family. There are two levels on the main floor, to divide the circulation flow. We therefore enter the upper level of the house where we find the entrance, the staircase, a small reading or relaxation area and a powder room. To get to the kitchen and the dining room, we have to go down a step. In this space, there is also a climbing wall that allows you to practice your technique or just have fun on a daily basis. In front of the house, there is the living room which is bathed in light all day long thanks to its large window.

Regarding the basement, there is a first bedroom with a "walk-in". This room could easily be reconfigured to accommodate two single beds if you have two children for example. On that floor there is a laundry room accessible by the bathroom, the mechanical room and the master bedroom with its large walk-in closet.

Every square foot of the Appalachian home is maximized to provide a comfortable and functional space for a small family. The emphasis is on living areas in order to take advantage of the beautiful natural light all day long.
---
To ensure superior insulation for each of our ecological homes, the walls are made of a double frame of 2x4 spaced 24 inches apart. The amount of wood needed is therefore similar to that of a traditional house that uses 2x6 spaced every 16 inches. In addition, these two walls are also staggered in order to cut thermal bridges as much as possible, that is to say the continuous elements that create heat losses from the inside to the outside of the house. The insulation material used in this wall cut is squirt cellulose. It is a 100% recycled material that perfectly hugs each of the wall cavities for optimal insulation.
