Other useful information on this plan

The very popular Barrington 4 house plan now available in an ecological version!

Inspired by our Barrington 4 (#3153-V3) house plan, the Barrington-Eco is an ecological and revisited version. The walls have been thickened to guarantee better insulation and the windows have been adapted to make it a passive solar house.

Particularly designed for a south backyard orientation, this tiny home has the striking features of the original plan all the while offering new, more optimal and eco-friendly ideas. First of all, on the right side of the house, to the west, we find the more private rooms such as the master bedroom, the full bathroom and 2nd bedroom. To the east of the house, on the other side of the central staircase, you find the kitchen with its walk-in pantry and its large island, the dining room and the living room. The kitchen and the dining room both have a cathedral ceiling.

In the basement, we find two additional bedrooms, a large laundry room, a second full bathroom, a large family area and a storage. In addition, a laundry chute from the bathroom on the main floor to the laundry room is a great extra!

This gorgeous, simplified farmhouse style home includes everything a small family needs. Its design will even allow you to greet your loved ones in a friendly and warm atmosphere.

Distinctive elements

Plan with ecological thinking:
wall composition with better energy efficiency;

Farmhouse style house plan with fully finished basement.
Entrance with walk-in closet (mud room).
Main bathroom includes separate bath and shower, as well as a laundry chute.
Kitchen with walk-in pantry.
Cathedral ceiling in kitchen and the dining room.
Fully finished basement for a lot of additional family and bedroom space!
---
To ensure superior insulation for each of our ecological homes, the walls are made of a double frame of 2x4 spaced 24 inches apart. The amount of wood needed is therefore similar to that of a traditional house that uses 2x6 spaced every 16 inches. In addition, these two walls are also staggered in order to cut thermal bridges as much as possible, that is to say the continuous elements that create heat losses from the inside to the outside of the house. The insulation material used in this wall cut is squirt cellulose. It is a 100% recycled material that perfectly hugs each of the wall cavities for optimal insulation.
